What can I do with left over milk?

I don't drink milk but my dad came to stay for a couple of days so I bought some, and then my dad turned up with a 4 pint bottle.

I have made a Yorkshire pudding with some but what else can I do?

I've seen some suggestions to make cottage cheese but I don't eat that either.

Rice pudding! I made one yesterday, perfect in this cold weather.

Milk jelly.
Use a small amount of water to melt the jelly, but mainly use milk. Strawberry or Raspberry works well.

Pancakes.

Make butter, give it to a neighbour, donate it to a local cat sanctuary, baking, macaroni cheese, milkshake... Loads more things you could do with it

Ignore butter, I'm getting cream and milk mixed up

Make white roux sauce and freeze it in portions - use it later for quick base for macaroni or cauliflower cheese or fish pie.

I'm liking the idea of rice pudding, I do need to buy some rice for it though.

Pancakes I have thought about, I'm not able to stand for long at the moment though.

Custard?

AdaColeman · 06/02/2025 09:09

Rice pudding.

White sauce to use with chicken in a pie, or in chicken supreme with rice, or in Pasta Alfredo. Or use the sauce in a fish pie.

Use to make scones, or batter for fried fish.

StormingNorman · 06/02/2025 09:12

You can freeze it.

Rice pudding sounds good! Personally though, I'd go for bread pudding and custard.

It won't go off for at least a week past the use by date, so you can use it in tea and coffee if you drink those drinks.

Freeze some to save buying milk later.

Make macaroni cheese or similar.

I drink tea and coffee black and I'm not sure I have room in the freezer.

Just looking up a bread pudding recipe. One of my neighbours looks after her two grandchildren so they might like a pudding.

Freeze it as ice cubes for visitors tea and coffee?

Pancake batter freezes well

rainbowunicorn · 06/02/2025 13:44

Macaroni cheese
White sauce for lasagne
Rice pudding
Custard
Cauliflower cheese
Sauce for fish pie
Potato daupinous

OK so the plan is to clear out some space in the freezer and make:

Cheese sauce
Pancake / YP batter

And for lunch I'm having rice pudding (apparently I can do it in my rice cooker.)
