How to cook porridge in the microwave without making a big mess?

This is beyond me, I have tried different things, but always end up up with oats everywhere.

I bloody love the microwave in general but I honestly think that porridge is a case where it is both quicker and easier to make it on the stove, and that includes washing up the pan. In my experience the only way to stop it doing that in the microwave is to stop and stir frequently and to use a much bigger bowl than you would eat out of, which is then more fuss and as much washing up as doing it in a saucepan.
