Quorn alternative

I haven’t eaten meat for almost 4 years now (am pescatarian)
However, I really miss things like spaghetti bol and chili con carne.
Quorn gives me absolutely terrible wind and bloating.
Is there another meat substitute mince I can try without these awful side effects? 🍑💨
Thank you ♥️

Have you tried lentils, beans or soy mince?

There are several other brands available now.

Can't comment on whether they'll upset your stomach.

Sainsburys and Morrisons both do own brand and there is also a Linda McCartney product.

Meat substitutes can be quite highly processed, I don't get on well with them but I tend to use green lentils for a spag bol instead, if you suffer from wind I'm not sure though!

Thanks all! Yes lentils might not be a good idea…

I have been a vegetarian since 1984. For those, I'd use veggie mince which is not quorn, or since moving to France where veggie stuff is rare and expensive, I just use grated carrots for all mince substitutes. I add it in just after the onions and peppers, and also very finely diced courgette if I have them in the summer. Once it has cooked you'd never know it wasn't a mince based dish.

My favourite vegetarian mince substitute is Linda McCartney and it doesn’t affect me, but obviously everyone is different.

Vivera brand mince is good, or lentils.

I use red lentils in place of red meat for lasagne and Bolognese recipes.

I use tofu. I crumble it up, add soy sauce or something, spread it out on a tray and bake it in the oven for a bit. It makes it sort of mince like so it can then go in the sauce.

I make a bolognaise with Puy lentils. Not red ones-they go to mush too quickly.

Thanks All! ♥️
