Why can't I cook potato wedges correctly?

..in the oven?

I cut the potatoes into wedges, cover in olive oil and salt and pepper. 200 degrees in the oven for abojt 40/45 mins.
When they come out some parts will be burning and others will still be soft and not crispy! Where am I going wrong?

Ime the drier they are the better. Drying them off with some kitchen paper helps

I part microwave.
Cut, coat in oil and flavour (salt with smoked paprika and/or garlic granules usually) then a couple of minutes in the microwave until the pointy bit starts going translucent. Then into the oven.

Par boil a bit

Allow to dry

Cover with oil. Salt pepper

Turn frequently and move around the tray

Do you cut them first before putting in the microwave?

I'm thinking now, pan in hot oven with oil in, cut wedges and microwave for 5 mins, then out and in the oven at 180 for 30 mins!?

I would micro the potatoes whole then cut after, if not they kind of seal up and dont go nice and crunchy
