I was thinking of making this recipe

Any hints or suggestions? First time making pasties

Three plates of cornish pasties. One pasty is broken and the contents is spilling out.

Cornish pasty

Reawaken childhood memories of summer holidays with Sara Buenfeld's eat-by-the-sea favourite, the Cornish pasty

Dreadful photo as don't need gravy! Main ingredients don't show that though, so I think they will turn out correctly just not like the photo!

Give them a go. Just dice everything small as shown so it cooks in the time given.

Can replace meat with mature cheddar and plenty of black pepper for cheese and onion pasties.

Good luck! They tend to be a practice makes perfect item but they are delicious and worth making!

My mother (Cornish) never diced anything.
Potatoes were thinly sliced and swede was grated.
She used skirt of beef with a crumbled stock cube for seasoning.

My mum and gran used to make them. Again Cornish. Thinly sliced potatoes and swede. Mum does a small cut in the top to let the steam escape and trickled in a small amount of water to help keep vegetables moist. The crimping should be down one side and not down the middle!

Hevva cake is delicious. Cross between a scone and sponge. Also saffron buns and yeast buns are so good.
