What to do with jarred mincemeat

Just picked up two jars of Christmas mincemeat in Lidl for 20p each. Any suggestions what to do with them apart from mince pies? Thanks in advance.

Fruit cake?

Lots of recipes available for a Wholemeal mincemeat cake. Tasty but feels a bit virtuous too! Mincemeat baklava also yummy and easy to do.

Stir into vanilla ice cream.

It lasts for ever though so you could just keep it till next Christmas.

I make a sort of flapjack with mincemeat in the middle.

It goes really well with apples, so add it to apple crumble, apple pie, strudel, sponge pudding etc.

Thanks for all the great ideas, I will try all of these. Might pop back and get another couple of jars!

Mincemeat pin wheels

Roll of ready made puff pastry unrolled

Slather on jar mincemeat

Re roll as tight as you can

Fridge for 20min

Slice into rounds

Oven for about 20min 180 fan (check cooking instructions on pack of puff)

Cool

Enjoy 😋

Good for 3 days in airtight container (they are v sticky!!)

My Mum used to make mincemeat cake very regularly, we had it in lunch boxes for school as its quick, easy, keeps well and not too expensive.

Delia has lots of recipes for using mincemeat, eg steamed puddings.

A no bake cheesecake with mincemeat running through it is lovely.

My mother used to make is baked apples. In a dish, big Granny Smith, core it, put mincemeat in the tube left by removing the core. Then bake in oven (pop it in with something else) or microwave. The apple is done when it's all fluffy. Have with cream or custard.

Another vote for mincemeat cheesecake.

I made a shortbread recipe with some this Christmas, half the shortbread mix is pressed down in tin like regular shortbread, then mincemeat, then the other half of loose shortbread mix is scattered over. It was actually nearly nice than regular mince pies!

Cinnamon buns with mincemeat instead of cinnamon/sugar

Digestive/butter base, mix mincemeat with cooked apple (50/50?) and then top with meringue. Put in hot oven until it looks crispy but not burnt (sorry, lost recipe years ago!). Serve with cream or vanilla ice cream.

Mincemeat muffins are lovely and simple to make.
