Drinking makes me very ill except when I drink Baileys - any ideas why? Anyone else?

Hmm. Maybe you are a bit intolerant to wheat and fermented grapes so beer and wine make you unwell. Bailey’s only has Irish Whiskey in it so I suppose that’s relatively pure. I myself find that I tolerate spirits better than beer and wine. I think to an extent, it’s normal as you get older. Forgive me for saying older, I’m 37 and maybe you are younger than me. I mean in terms of alcohol tolerance it’s normal over 30 to start to not do well!

Bailey's has so much sugar and dairy in it that you can't really drink enough of it for the booze in it to do you any damage. If you drank a full bottle you'd be ill from drinking so much cream, not from the whiskey.

Possible the fat in baileys slows down the I'll effects you normally get with a hit of alcohol.

Baileys is only 17% abv (whisky or whiskey is 40%) so very diluted spirit. Liqueurs tend to be 14 - 20%. The thing which affects most people with wine are the artificial sulphates and preservatives. Sulphates occur naturally in the skins of grapes and some people can't eat grapes because they are allergic to sulphates - if grapes are no problem then find an organic wine to try as they are only allowed to contain natural occurring sulphates and don't have any artificial preservatives in. Cheap wine contains the most crap!
