‘Matt enamel’ on cast iron?

Not sure where else to post this, but has anyone had experience of this? My mum got me a lovely new casserole for Christmas but, whilst all my other cast iron has a light enamel coating, this has a matt black ‘enamel’ which - if anything - looks less durable than my plain cast iron. It’s bumpy, gritty and feels almost sandy. My ancient Le Creusets have held up well to occasional abuse but I’m just not sure whether this will do the same. It has a 25yr guarantee but…
