Having a quiet NYE this year, just DH and me. Kids will be upstairs asleep so can't go out but at the same time we can have a kid-free evening.

Trying to think of a dining experience that's a bit more special than our usual cooking/takeaway.

Has anyone had any good experiences with a restaurant delivery boxes?

Don't mind doing a bit of cooking/prep but don't want to be stressing in the kitchen all evening.

We’ve used Dishpatch a few times and have always been really pleased.

Happy 2025 to you all!

I've not used a restaurant delivery box. I know that my DSIL has during lockdown for special occasions and she liked them. How about something that you can make ahead like Spanish Chicken? You could prepare the puds too and maybe go retro and have prawn cocktail for starters which takes minimal effort?

Another alternative might be a Gousto Box?

Cote at Home.

Really they just expensive ready meals, but they are mostly put in the oven, and reheat so not taxing. They do themed meals as well.

No better (or worse) than M&S.

A work colleague likes Cookfood.com and they have a 10% discount offer atm. I’ve never tried them but my colleagues quite a fussy eater so assuming they must be relatively decent to pass that test.

Dispatch looks really good but looks like earliest delivery is 10th Jan so we've obviously left it a bit late for that option.

We do use gousto but that tends to be a standard mid-week dinner option so I guess I'm looking for more of a special occasion/treat

Dispatch shows as available for delivery on the 31st for me, are you looking at the NYE section as I believe that is the only menus available at the moment.

How about getting a cheese fondue kit or a raclette?

We've had some lovely boxes from Green Chef especially if you add extras / pay supplements for extra nice meat

If you like Indian food then Aktar at Home is utterly fabulous. They do curry boxes, but also a delicious (and more fancy) leg of lamb and biriyani options

@mynky

dishpatch.co.uk (NOT dispatch) are taking orders until 29th.

We've used them a number of times, & can highly recommend them.

I would second Aktar at Home. Delicious
