Last time you had friends for dinner (just adults) what did you serve? I usually end up serving a main course that's essentially a nice roast dinner.

I LOVE that everyone is so fancy. I had my friend stay for tea last night, I was already planning chilli with sweet potatoes, so I added nachos, a green salad and all the toppings. Before that a gathering of friends extended over lunch, so impromptu curried cauliflower soup.

When adult kids come over its roasts usually.

So essentially whatever I was planning that day as I'm yet to plan an official dinner party.

I'll quite often do butterflied leg of lamb - takes 45 minutes to cook oven or BBQ. Roasted veg and baked or little roastie potatoes. Basically a roast dinner.

Thai green chicken curry, fajitas, lasagnes (both meat and veggie), Jamie Oliver special chicken with prosciutto ham, thyme, butter, lemon and celeriac.

My boyfriend hates lamb so that’s out for me now sadly!

last time? (not in UK) typical Yorkshire High Tea.
Time before: full (with all possible sides and trimmings) roast beef
time before: Korean (bibimbap with all the possible side-dishes)
time before: Indian (butter chicken was one, others too though including an incredible Dahl Makani)

but. I'm married to a Chef so all i do is shopping, laying the table, and loading the dishwasher

Beouf Bourginon (can't spell!) with creamy mash and roasted carrots. Easy to do the beef in advance and it tastes better the next day.

an easy pudding is, get ginger biscuits, soak in liquor (eg brandy), whip double cream, spread thickly all over biscuits and arrange them in a row. When serving slice diagonally. Delicious, a Len Deighton recipe that my mum made all the time when she went to dinner parties and was asked to bring dessert.

I get nervous, hot and stressed when hosting. But I always enjoy it afterwards and wish I did more of it.

One time I did a Jamie Oliver lasagne, mixed salad, garlic bread and my own version of eton mess or ice-cream.

Time before I did a Gousto smoked chilli with rice, garlic bread, sour cream and my old faithful eton mess or ice cream for dessert.

My mum did this but beat lemon curd in with the cream. It was delicious.

Oooh must try this!

Vegetarian lasagne and a big salad. Not that exciting and took ages to make. Tasted nice though. Oh and a retro prawn cocktail starter served in Banycham glasses.
