How would you melt this?

How would you melt cadbury chocolate eclairs?

And how would you melt marshmallows?

I have a recipe that calls for these to be melted and mixed with rice krispies, but doesn't explain how to melt them. Gut instinct says not in a pan over direct heat, nor in the microwave. Bowl over hot water? Instantpot?

Microwave on medium heat, check and stir a few times as foods with sugar can get hot quickly.

In bowls sitting in pans of hot water. The marshmallows would melt easily, but if the toffees weren't melting, I'd risk putting the pan over a very low heat on the hob.

Microwave with a bit of butter to cut the stickiness. Do short bursts and stir frequently.

Bowl over boiling water on the hob worked best.

Now, how do I cover with marzipan? Hadn't been planning on marzipan, but dc is asking for it. Will marzipan just stick to the rice krispie cake, or do I have to brush with jam? The sweet cake does not feel hugely sticky.

I'd brush with jam, apricot for preference! 🍑 🍑 🍑 🍑 🍑
