If you were going to a Christmas Eve lunch/drinks...

At someone's house, and heading to the pub for drinks after, what would you want to eat?

I was originally doing drinks and nibbles plus mince pies but I think something more substantial might be required as everyone is going to be out drinking later in the day.

My thoughts so far are...

Quiche
A "massive" Christmassy salad
Crusty bread
Cheese/pate?

Any other ideas what you'd fancy?

I've seen some lovely looking ones online with roasted veg/nuts/mixed leaves/pomegranate etc...very colourful with lots of red and green

Oh where have you seen those - that sounds gorgeous for Boxing Day buffet. I love a massive salad :D

Have I missed a post where OP shared what time this will take place? Surely that is relevant? Are the guest likely to had dinner beforehand? And what did the invitation say - if it was just verbal what do these people think they have been invited for?

Now I love a massive salad - have one most days for lunch or dinner.

But it's Christmas Eve for Gods sake woman

Replace the leaves with lots of cheese & crackers!!

I’d be delighted with a quiche and massive festive salad for Christmas Eve lunch.
Maybe with baked potatoes on the side, or some baguette/ciabatta and cheese as others have suggested. (Optional sausage rolls for those needing more of a beige spread!)

I also love an interesting salad, and it was all feeling a bit carby with the quiche and sausage rolls!
