If you were working Christmas Day , what would be your dream pre-work brunch?

A friend is v kindly hosting my adult offspring and I over Christmas but is working Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day afternoon/evenings.

I would love to do them a great brunch on Christmas Day - but will have to buy everything in the day before.

I'm British but live abroad. Could you please recommend anything you think might be fabulous - what would you like on the table?

Have an M and S, little Waitrose, huge Asda and a Sainsbury’s within shopping distance.

Am a huge fan of Marks mince pies (the ones with sable pastry), teeny sausages and pork pies- not v Christmassy but hey - so those are a given...

I think some pigs in blankets would make a great Christmas brunch if you weren't going to get Christmas dinner!
I think I would just go for a buffet of good bread, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, maybe some smashed avocado with chilli. Fresh fruit platter. Good juice and coffee.

Smoked salmon with scrambled or poached eggs, or cream cheese. M&S has a wide choice of styles of smoked salmon, so you should find something interesting and tasty.

It depends on what the job is. I wouldn't have wanted to start work with a full stomach.

Pigs in blankets would be awesome to add to a fry up instead of sausage and bacon - get long skinny sausages and wrap them in streaky bacon yourself

Depends if she's more of a fry up or a continental person though

Either smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast (don't over scramble the eggs) or poached egg, black pudding, and mashed avocado on toast with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkling of chilli flaked. Freshly squeezed orange juice to drink. Then mixed berries simmered in maple syrup then drizzled over greek yogurt.

My DH would want Scotch pancakes with a choice of jams. Or a choice of pastries from a good patisserie.

either smoked salmon and scrambled or poached eggs on a bagel or a pigs in blankets roll

Eggs royale - poached eggs (but fried is fine, I wouldn’t expect you to be cranking out poached eggs for the masses on Christmas morning), smoked salmon, hollandaise, on muffins or crumpets with a fancy fruit salad. Definitely could not eat a full English sort of breakfast before heading off to work.
