Has anyone made a dairy free cheesecake?

I would like to make a cheesecake for a friend who is dairy free and says she feels like she misses out on a lot of desserts.. I've successfully used Tesco's vegan cream cheese in savoury dishes and when I made a trifle for her I used Oatley whipping cream. Has anyone made a cheesecake using these ingredients / similar? How did it turn out ?
Thanks

Hi, I'd suggest any recipe by Isa Chandra Moskowitz - everything I've made of hers has been amazing and I know I can rely on her recipes. Have fun!

Thank you. I've looked at a couple, they are very different to how I make cheesecake, but that's fine, would be good to try something different.

I would still be interested in whether anyone has made one following a 'normal' recipe but swapping in vegan cream cheese and cream?

Oooh I've never seen anyone else mention her on here! Yes, love all her recipes too and they always look and taste how they should (unlike anything from the Deliciously Ella books that never seem to work).

Yup I used Philli vegan cream cheese, flora vegan butter (for the biscuit base) and probably Oatly cream. Worked really well.

Banana Cheesecake (8" loose bottom tin)

Base
175g digestives
75g butter

Topping
150ml thick cream
200g Philidelphia (never use low fat it doesn't set)
50g caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 egg white
3 bananas

Method
Melt butter, crush biscuits, mix, press into tin, refrigerate for 30 mins

Blend cream, phili, vanilla & sugar until smooth
Whisk egg white until stiff and fold in
Fold in sliced banana, place on top of biscuit mix
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

The problem with vegan cream cheeses (the ones I've bought) are that the smell and taste is so distinctive (gross!) that I can't imagine wanting that in a pudding.

Some vegan recipes uses cashews such as this one on Isa's site - it does make it an expensive experiment though!

I haven't tried making it but Freya Cox's book has a cheesecake using vegan cream cheese and cream

I'm not sure if just subbing different cheese and cream into a non vegan recipe would work. I suspect in this recipe the chocolate helps it set.
