Help with slow cooker pulled pork - joint too big?

Not used my slow cooker much but thought I’d try pulled pork for a party this evening. After spending ages researching recipes and making an extra trip to the shop for a can of coke its in and cooking…but reading the manual for my Morphy Richard’s cooker I‘ve realised the max joint weight is 1kg but mine is 2.1kg. It’s almost up to the lid with a few centimetres space around the sides. Does it matter? Should I just give up and do it in the over? Any advice gratefully received!

As long as it fits in and you can put the lid on it’ll be fine. Obviously a larger joint will take longer to cook

Thank you so much, that’s a relief!

If you're doing pulled pork then cut the joint up into smaller pieces. You'd need to get a move on to ensure it's ready for this evening.

What time is your party? Do you have enough time to cook it! I'd want at least 12 hours for a joint that size.

I normally cut it into sections, using the fat seams as guides, to help it to fit in.
Or in this case, to only cook part of it & freeze the rest.

I do a layer of sliced rings of onions as a trivet. Then spice rub for the pork and some cider so it steams. Pork always fills the depth of the pot and never been an issue.

Thanks everyone, it went in at 11.15 at medium but I turned it up to high after an hour. Hoping it will be done after 8 hours? If not might have to cut some off to make it smaller or . Or put it in the oven instead? I didn’t really think it through 😬

It’s for teenagers so worse case I can probably fill them up with crisps until it’s ready at midnight!
