Good cookbook for children

My nearly-5yo loves to cook and help in the kitchen. I’m looking for a good cookbook to buy him for Christmas for cooking together, but to give him a bit of autonomy to pick the recipes himself and potentially follow some steps (with help) or at least be capable of doing a lot of it.

I’ve been looking at a few on Amazon like the Usborne ones - keen to find something that’s not just baking/sweet treats!

Would love any personal recommendations x

My kids loved the picture book "Lunch at 10 Pomegranate Street" though it didn't have step by step pictures like the Usborne books.

Usborne Start to cook was great for my DS though he was a bit older, 8-9 or so. That has actual meal dishes in there that isn't just sweet stuff.

Picture book cookbook, that should have said. I think it's an Ottolenghi one, or I heard about it via Ottolenghi anyway.

I like the Usborne Beginners Cookbook too. I have a copy along with my other (rather enormous) collection of recipe books. ( I think I bought it for DC years ago.) There's a good variety of recipes imo.

We have this one and it’s got plenty of savoury recipes as well as sweet.

Ooh @karmakameleon I might get that for DS2 for Christmas.

I am looking at the Silver Spoon for Children too, which might suit you too OP if your DC likes Italian food - lots of step by step pictures!!

Just had a look again at my Usborne Beginners Cookbook. Absolutely fab, imo and may have to try some of the recipes out again! Good mix of sweet/ baking along with very interesting looking savoury stuff. Also really nicely presented.
