Beans stew

I bought some big dried beans when I was in Spain. I want to make them justice. They've been soaking and should be fully soaked in a few hours, how do I cook them so they are velvety tender and don't split as they cook? Some are already split now...

Sorry, I meant butter beans! But they're much bigger than the usual ones you see around here.

They do split, can't be helped. Cooking time depends on the age of the beans, I keep testing after about 40 minutes.

We have a big bag in the cupboard, been there over a year. OH had the idea he was going to replicate the dishes we had. Never been touched
