Cotton Candy Grapes

So, this is my second purchase of these grapes. The first ones were gorgeous, the flavour really was lovely, just like candy floss. I didn't wash those ones. The lastest ones I've got, I pinched one before I rinsed them and again, lovely flavour. Washed them and they taste like normal grapes now! Is the flavour a coating they put on?! I'm confused!

Supposedly, it is the specific grape hybrid that gives the flavour. We only bought them once and I was a bit underwhelmed though.

I don't think it's because you washed them. I had a similar experience to you but I always wash them.

I can normally only get the cotton candy grapes for a brief 2 week period in early September - are you sure that they are the cotton candy ones? I know they do several other 'special flavour' grapes so maybe a different variety?

I think they are all revolting, but my DD loves them.

@Seeline Definitely, but maybe they aren't as strong in flavour as they're out of season? I know I got some last year and they were lovely. Then they disappeared! Didn't dawn on me they'd have a season like everything else! I love gooseberries, but you're lucky to get any within the two weeks they're out!
