Christmas Pudding slow cooker

I am making the Christmas Puddings and I wonder if anyone can advise me.

The 'family' recipe is from a very old Prestige Pressure cooker book and makes 2 x 1lb puddings.

The pressure cooker either scared me too much to try it properly or it is broken. Therefore I want to slow cook the puddings.

The pressure cooker instructions say Steaming: 15 minutes, Time at 15lbs (H): 1 3/4 hours.

Internet searches for 1pt puddings (no 1lb ones!) say slow cook on low for 8 hours. Completely different recipe though.

Does anyone have any thoughts if 8 hours slow cooker is about right? No idea how it would relate to pressure cooking!

Irritatingly I have made the puddings for the last couple of years and I cant remember how long I slow cooked them for then! This year I will write it down!!

8 hrs on low sounds fine, puddings are cooked within the first few hours and the rest of the time the colour and flavour is darkening and developing so it's not an exact science! Now my slow cooker is not slow and even on low it bubbles so I usually give about 5/6 hrs max, if you have a slow cooker that is cooler on low than mine then you can put them in overnight if needs be, the few extra hours will do no harm.

Thank you both, especially the bit about the cooking only being the first few hours.

My slow cooker is slow on low, so I am going for 8 hours... 🤞
