Anyone managing to source medjool date from the middle east at the moment?

I keep seeing boxes of dates which are either from south Africa or Namibia but we used to buy a brand which was from Jordan, I'm guessing it's not possible at the moment for ME countries to export? The reason I'm wondering is because the Jordanian ones were far superior.

Zaytoun and Yaffa dates are the best Medjool dates by far. It's best to avoid other Medjool date brands are many of them are being mislabelled.

As per my previous posts Zayton Im not impressed with at all, we bought 3 boxes in a fair trade shop, only place we could find them and I found them tough and dry

Ive been continuing to buy the Medjool Village brand that thankfully they have in Asda, we probably get through a box a week.

To the previous poster asking how the Palestinians can produce dates after what has happened in Gaza - they also live in the West Bank which has not been bombed to smithereens (though there has been some violent altercations with the Israeli army and regular encroachments by illegal Israeli settlers).
Just thought I'd clear that up.
OP I hope you find the dates of your dreams!

Re: tough and dry. Just out of curiosity, how closely do the dates correspond with the weight on the packaging? The less it conforms to the stated weight the more moisture has been lost and the older the dates. At least then you'll know whether you're buying old dates or something else is wrong with them.
