I want to make my daughter a showstopper of a cake for her 18th but which is easy to make and not too time-consuming. I have r just night a turn table and piping thing on Amazon. Any ideas would be very welcome!

What type?
Chocolate, vanilla?
I made this one for my mums 80th but changed the topping to suit myself. It wasn't perfect but I'm not a professional and it tasted good

That looks perfect. Was it easy to make?

I recently bought a two tier cake from M&S and decorated it myself for my daughter's 18th. It comes with the dowels and instructions for how to stack it. I scraped most of the buttercream from the tops of both cakes, covered them in fondant and went from there.

That looks lovely @CakeAndChaos but her birthday is on Tuesday and it says it needs to be ordered a week in advance!

@wondabar its basically 3 sponge layers and buttercream split into 3 portions and coloured with food colouring. Just follow the instructions and it should work out OK. I made the sponges the day before and wrapped in cling film once cooled.

Had to do a bit of maths to get the right amount of batter and buttercream 😁. Didn't want raspberries so used the flowers instead that I found in a supermarket (not sure which one)

I always buy a plain iced cake and decorate it, m and s and Waitrose are good.

Either decorate with flowers or cake toppers and decorations. Etsy is your friend for this.

Tuesday?!! 😮

If you are a beginner, I would return the turntable and stuff, and spend the money on loads of icing flowers to cover the top with. If you don’t have a specialist shop nearby and can’t find anywhere with next day delivery online, Hobbycraft and Amazon sell them but there will be less choice and they will cost a bit more probably. Something like this link:

cakecandyco.com/Purple-Cream-Rose-Mix-p80601873?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADGnYmdUYpHoCAmxSSAB7tgftVNDi&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_7Tn-deaiQMVrpFQBh01ShJKEAQYGCABEgLx__D_BwE

I would stick to something simple like a layered rainbow cake or layered chocolate or the cake demented pixie posted. Buy a palette knife and ice with buttercream or chocolate ganache. Cover the top with sugar flowers or a premade topper. If the icing is a bit dodgy on the sides, cover with grated chocolate or white chocolate or sprinkles.

Honestly, I once ended up buying a Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix in a convenience store late at night after a cat related flour incident 😂 It was pretty good. If you are a novice baker, a couple of packets of cake mix to make a layer cake could be the answer!

I’m sure she will love it, even if it turns out a bit wonky!
