Gastropub/nice restaurant near Exeter (or between Exeter and Bristol)

Hi all,

Any recommendations for a really nice gastropub near Exeter? Or potentially between Bristol and Exeter, in a nice location but relatively close to the motorway.

I'm looking for somewhere lovely for a family meal for my FiL's 80th birthday. Fancier than your average 'nice' pub, but not a really posh restaurant (e.g. Lympestone Manor), as that isn't really my PiL's thing.

Any recommendations gratefully received :-)
