peppers are hard to digest

DS who eats all foods known to man, got very sick after eating cooked red peppers when he was around 8/9 months

raw tomatoes should be ok

Summerfruit · 22/04/2008 10:45

Thanks for your answer ! Shall I take off the skin off the tomatoes then ?

Summerfruit, my 11 month old dd has been eating peppers and tomatoes raw and cooked since 7 months with no problems. In fact, she eats the same diet as us mainly.

Nemoandthefishes · 22/04/2008 10:51

15mth old has gladly eaten cooked or raw peppers and tomatos from about 9mths

Summerfruit · 22/04/2008 10:51

I'm so bloody ignorant when it's regarding dd's food...Thanks Showofhands, if I remember right, your little girl was born around the same time as my dd no ?

I tought (and that's just me), that the acidity of the tomatoes was bad for the baby ! Silly me

DS loves raw peppers, has for ages, cut into thin strips.

PerkinWarbeck · 22/04/2008 11:12

DD has been having each of these since 6 mo without problems. She's eaten them raw and cooked, but prefers cooked.

I cooked a ratatouile for my 12 month old recently - cut tomatoes and red and yellow peppers and a courgette into cubes n cooked down - he likes it with rice or pasta.

Yes Summerfruit, we both have May babies. I remember you from the May thread (it's still going strong if you want to chat to other Mums with babies of a similar age. We talk lots of rubbish though).

My dd eats anything and everything with the exception of raw chillis. I cook most things from scratch so I know what's in everything and I just dish up a bowl full for her. She can eat an entire red pepper like an apple now she has teeth. In fact, I have to wrestle them from her if I want any for myself.
