I want a particular kind of recipe book but I can never find what I'm looking for!I want a book of all kinds of savoury bakes, the kinds of things in the bread aisles at supermarkets so scones, crumpets, English muffins, hot cross buns and breadsI can either find books about baking bread, which doesn't have scones etc. Or baking books which are sweet things like cookies. Any recipe books devoted to a good variety of savoury bakes?

Have you tried the bbc good food site? It's a great resource for recipes.

Turnitoffnonagain · 19/09/2024 17:09

Or, I'll bet Paul Hollywood has that sort of book.

WildCherryBlossom · 19/09/2024 17:10

I used to have a copy of Mrs Breton's Book of Baking. That might fit the bill.

Blarn · 19/09/2024 17:12

The River Cottage Handbook Bread might fit the bill. Just flicked through and it has everything you mentioned.

@Turnitoffnonagain I like the goodfood recipes! But I also just love flicking through a physical recipe book

@Blarn That's perfect I'll have a look for that now!

Mary Berry's 100 cakes and bakes definitely has scones etc as a whole chapter.

cloudjumper · 19/09/2024 17:20

Paul Hollywood has loads of books with the stuff you're after

I have Bake and British Baking, both have great recipes

SummaLuvin · 19/09/2024 18:11

Bake With Jack: Bread Everyday might be the sort of thing you are looking for. It's very much focused around all sorts of bread with some bonus recipes on how to use up left overs. I'm not sure it covers scones? I have flicked through at a friends house and have been the lucky recipient of some recipes, but don't own it myself.

Mary Berry will surely have one like that. Actually I've got her Baking Bible, thars very good.

The River Cottage bread book is very good.
Perhaps you can find a Be-ro book, there’s an online copy here but it’s rather old

Rachel Allen’s Bake is lovely recipes for cookies, scones, breads, crumpets, croissants… it’s really comprehensive. And Annie Bell, baking bible is fantastic for cakes.

One of the older Great British Bake off (BBC period) had that kind of thing.
