Seafood-safe to eat?

I bought a seafood platter on Saturday, and for complicated reasons we didn't eat it. It was 10 minutes from the fishmongers fridge to mine unopened.

I'm thinking of making a garlic cream sauce, warming the seafood in it and serving it with pasta tonight. Does that sound a safe thing to do?

As long as it all smells fine then it will be perfectly safe to eat.

What’s in it? Is it cooked? If already cooked it might be a bit tough if you cook it again.

Oysters are generally good for a few days in the fridge, same with mussels and it’s easy to tell if they’re not right. I’m not sure about sea snails as I don’t like them so never buy them!

It should be fine, but you'll soon know if it's off the minute you unwrap it! I would do more than warm the seafood though, I'd make sure it is well cooked through.

Hmm. I thought about that- but it's already cooked, so cooking it again will make it inedible.....

Not inedible just might toughen it depending on what fish it is, I think I'd turn it into chowder, that way you will be chopping it up so even if it toughens slightly will not be noticeable.

Would you not just eat as it is as you probably planned to do on Saturday? If it’s off, cooking won’t make any difference and it might get a bit tough. A rich garlic and cream sauce might overpower the seafood.

@Spomb- we were planning to eat it outside with Sancerre. It was so much colder today! The pasta was delicious-not too rich or overwhelming. Just heading for a second helping!
