You can get ( naturally) blue corn chips ( tortilla chips) to serve with a blue cheese dip? I honestly wouldn’t get a load of artificially blue stuff just to keep the theme though. I’d more just nod towards it. As an adult I honestly wouldn’t really want blue kids sweets on a graze board. But is this for a kids’ party??

LaPalmaLlama · 12/09/2024 14:26

I’ve also seen blue carrots but I imagine they’re kind of hard to get and probably a lot more expensive than good old orange carrots!

TickingAlongNicely · 12/09/2024 14:26

Blueberry muffins or pancakes

MiddleAgedDread · 12/09/2024 14:28

wrapped chocolates?

No it's adults. Just some friends for drinks and nibbles.
It's just a few sweets not piles of them.
I'll look for the chips thank you

Be cautious about adding food colouring, to get blue you need a lot and that can have unfortunate ramifications the next day.

I speak from experience, as we created a blue cheesecake for my Percy Jackson obsessed daughter.

marylou25 · 12/09/2024 15:14

An unfortunate choice! Very few if any naturally blue foods, even blueberries are not really blue, more of a purple colour. Serve your offerings on a blue display plate/board/cloth and to hell with trying to find actual blue food.

TheBeesKnee · 12/09/2024 15:20

Grapes?

Butterfly pea colouring?

Roundaboot · 12/09/2024 15:20

You definitely have to get blue cheese! You could even get Babybel Lights too as they come in a blue wrapper.

If you go down the packaging route, you'd have way more choice. The salted caramel Lindor are also blue and would nice on a board.

ScribblingPixie · 12/09/2024 15:26

Blue cheese on crackers with half a bluey/black grape on the top.

Alittlebitfluffy · 12/09/2024 15:28

Lindt chocs (a few flavours come in different shades of blue)
Blue M&Ms/smarties
Blue candy floss
Anything baked with a touch of blue food colouring (or butterfly pea if you wanted to go down the natural route)
Cookie Monster cupcakes
White chocolate dyed blue and then use it to dip Oreos or pretzel sticks or similar
Blueberry muffins or pancakes

Just go down the dessert route I think and there are tons of ideas! Blue corn tortillas I've definitely seen in Tkmaxx. Maybe something blue raspberry flavoured as well.

Alittlebitfluffy · 12/09/2024 15:29

Oh and blue packaging you have S&V Pringles, chipsticks, double cream. Greek yogurt. Wraps by mission deli.

Peasnbeans · 12/09/2024 15:29

Blue candyfloss - it's bubblegum flavour and in B&M yesterday!!

JaninaDuszejko · 12/09/2024 15:37

Blue graze board
Blueberries
Blue Cheese
Blue Corn Tortillas (which are really purple)
Do you have any edible blue flowers in your garden you could use to decorate? Borage, cornflower, nigella would all be suitable.

I did one of these with friends last year it was great fun! I was lucky and my colour was red. I think most people just brought things where the colour of the packaging was blue rather than the food itself. I know some of the blue options were milky way cake bars, magic stars, mini bags of party rings, wotsits, mini salt and vinegar pringles and mini Oreo pouches. We all ended up going home with a carrier bag full of stuff because there was far too much but was a great night.

HappyHappyy · 12/09/2024 16:13

Cool original Dorito's
Salted Caramel Lindt Chocolate balls (are delicious)
WKD if that's your thing
Tyrell's salted crisps

I second this. DD once ate a 'Great BigHoo' figure from the top of a birthday cake and produce the most magnificent green poo 💩 the following day

I go with bags of walkers cheese & onion crisps OP, but I'm lazy

Twinkletwinklelil · 12/09/2024 20:14

Blue takis
Wkd 🤣
Cupcakes with blue icing?
Crispy m&ms
Bubblegum icecream

OMGitsnotgood · 13/09/2024 07:29

Blue cheese definitely, and from your list I would do the macaroons and the blueberries. The sweets you mention would be good visually and I'd eat them but not sure how many other adults would!

I'd do some cupcakes with blue icing.

After that I'd focus on the wrapping as others have said, rather than colouring: S&V Pringles will add height to the buffet as well as the colour

Blue wrapped biscuits eg blue riband will add to the theme with the added bonus that they can be eaten later if left over. Ditto blue wrapper sweets.

ButterAsADip · 13/09/2024 09:13

So are other people bringing other colours of the rainbow? That’s gonna be a lot of food! The dream! 😄🌈

Butterflyfern · 13/09/2024 09:18

Does someone else have purple? If not, I'd count that as well. Especially as blue in nature is very unusual and most blue things, like flowers are actually purple.

That means you could do figs to go with your blue cheese and crackers? I'd make them up as little canape style things

Georgyporky · 13/09/2024 12:48

When red cabbage is boiled, it turns blueish.
A cole-slaw type dish?

mysparkleismissing · 15/09/2024 18:00

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions I'm feeling quite excited now!
Found some crisps, lentil bites and pringles all in blue packaging and some light babybels.
Gonna make a school cake with blue icing and maybe some blueberry mini muffins.

Nom nom
