Peanut butter alternative

My daughter loves apple and peanut butter, it's pretty much the only fruit she will reliably eat. She's now starting pre-school and needs a packed lunch, however...has to be nut free!!

Any ideas for something to go with the apple slices that doesn't cause anaphylaxis?

Cream cheese or greek yogurt. You could mix some cinnamon or cocoa powder in with it.
If sesame is allowed then tahini is a good option.

Thanks I'll give that a go! And check on the tahini.

Guess the main test will be if she eats it!

Hummus. Squashed falafel.

If she's allowed sesame, would tahini be an option. Or there's things like Wow Butter, but I haven't tried it myself

Just save the apple and peanut butter for when she gets home or have it for breakfast.
At nursery I'd just give them what you know they will eat. Saves a lot of waste

Thanks, yes had thought of that and on balance I decided to start this thread and see what other ideas might be out there.

There are two fake peanut butters that are totally peanut free but apparently taste a lot like the real thing. I've not tried them myself though. They are Wowbutter (made of soya) and P'Not butter (made of sunflower seeds).

Oh that is great info!! Thank you.

She's overwhelmingly cautious with her food. If I'm there and can play games etc with her then I can often get her to eat a bit of whatever we're having, but otherwise she genuinely will only eat cream cheese on some sort of bread, red peppers with hummus and apple slices with peanut butter. We had this big message from pre-school about making sure their lunches are healthy and 'show variety'. Then not allowed anything nut based, chocolate or even things like fruit shoots or juice/squash in their bottles.

Am going to try a few things to see if maybe peer pressure encourages her to expand her palette a bit, but wanted to have a plan in case it didn't work out and we were back to the holy trinity...only just 2 out of 3 as she won't touch the apple without the pb!!! Arghh.
