Bread flour

Those of you who make bread regularly do you buy strong flour in bulk and if so where from? Is it significantly cheaper? Thanks!

TBH making your own bread is so much cheaper than buying it that the price of the flour doesn't really matter much.

I use Aldi and Lidl strong flour, not too expensive. Bulk buying might be cheaper but storage I'm always wary of, had flour weevils once so don't want to chance a big bag. If you have freezer space for the flour though that would be a good idea.

Try the Cotswold Flour Company.

Sell flour in bulk but as 5 1.5 bags, so you wouldn’t need to open one huge bag and risk the dreaded weavils.

Tesco sell their flour as well if you wanted to try it first.

This takes me right back to covid times. I’m a baker and couldn’t buy flour in any supermarket so ordered a 16kg bag from a bakery supplier. DH felt sorry for me and my flour woes so he ordered a 16kg bag as a surprise. One supplier made an error and sent two bags by accident and told us to keep the extra bag as it would cost too much to post back. I had 48kg of flour and storage was a major issue so I’d never buy in bulk again. But on the positive it saw me through two lockdowns 😀
