Best non dairy spread?

Cobblersorchard · 01/09/2024 09:45

Catering for a kids party- to make it easier I’m doing all the sandwiches with dairy free spread (no vegans but there’s a few with dairy intolerance).
Which one is nicest? We are a proper butter household so never tried any.

The flora blue one. Spreadable- actually nice!

PolaroidPrincess · 01/09/2024 09:49

Probably Pure or Vitalite. I would just spread it fairly thinly though as they both have a very different taste to proper butter.

Devilsmommy · 01/09/2024 09:51

The Pure one is what I use and it's really nice

Zhx3 · 01/09/2024 09:58

I find this one has the best texture by far.

Flora definitely.

RogueRascal · 01/09/2024 10:01

We're using flora currently, I'm usually a lurpak person but it's actually not too bad

SanMarzano · 01/09/2024 10:03

I buy Pure myself but I think Flora buttery has the most butter-like taste. The Naturli one linked to above has a really strange taste imo because of the shea butter so I wouldn’t go for that for potentially fussy children.

tattychicken · 01/09/2024 10:04

Flora block butter, not the one in the tub.

I can’t personally vouch for it but dh reckons it’s the best
it comes as spreadable and also as a block

Opihr · 01/09/2024 11:09

My v fussy DD likes Vitalite the best.

Georgyporky · 01/09/2024 12:07

Do you actually need artificial grease?
If the filling is damp - toms, cu, etc - probably don't need anything.
Or perhaps, sun-dried tomato paste, pickle, chutney, mayo.

LemonyCoughSyrup · 01/09/2024 12:09

Naturli ! It’s the only one that’s tasted like butter

Branleuse · 01/09/2024 12:10

Naturli is the closest to butter, but flora buttery is fine on sandwiches

Purplerain1144 · 01/09/2024 12:11

Flora buttery, orange/yellow tub

They only want plain ham and plain cheese. They are aged 2-4, so just spread.

None of them will eat anything like salad in a sandwich (they eat it as crudites) or any form of chutney or pickle.

Flora plant based or Vitalite are nicest and completely non dairy.

MassiveOvaryaction · 01/09/2024 14:07

Dh prefers Flora plant butter (in a block).

MrsAvocet · 01/09/2024 14:07

We generally use vitalite (dairy allergic DS.) It doesn't taste like butter but it's inoffensive and everyone in our family will eat it without complaint.

Cobblersorchard · 01/09/2024 14:10

Thanks all, that’s really useful. I will check those out. They are only little ones so I don’t think will be that bothered but it will be far easier for me if all the sandwiches have the same.
The only dairy will be in the cake (there’s a vegan alternative) and the cheese in some of the sandwiches - which will be easy to identify. The party bags and rest of the lunchbox contents are dairy free so they all have the same.

It will be enough chaos as it is with 30+ of them to manage.

Just keep an eye on the ingredients of Flora Buttery if you're wanting dairy-free. It may use buttermilk.

Justmemyselfandi999 · 01/09/2024 20:05

Naturli by far the best, or regular Flora buttery is dairy free and nice
