Chocolate Birthday Cake

Hi,

Usually I make a Madeira sponge for birthday cakes but DS has decided he wants a chocolate cake this year.
Is there a way to make the sponge chocolate with drying it out or do I need a new recipe?

If I do need a recipe does anyone have a good one? Thanks

I used the same recipe for years and have recently ditched it in favour of this, it's about perfect

I use the BBC Good Food chocolate fudge cake recipe. I get asked to make it for several birthdays, been doing it for years. It's nice and easy to make.

Professional cake maker here (well, sideline but official) I only use this recipie by Angela Nilson, it's the best I've ever tried and I get loads of compliments from my customers.
