Do you or did you eat dinner with your children?

DD is 3 and we always have eaten breakfast lunch and dinner at the table together (unless she's at preschool then she has lunch there). This does mean dinner for her has been quite late so she could eat with her dad when he's home for 5:45/6

I've noticed a lot of parents don't do this, that their kids eat early and then the parents eat later

Just wondering what other people's set up is and why you've chosen that way

I eat later because I want to enjoy my food and it's literally impossible when also wrestling with a 2 year old. She eats at 5 and it just doesn't work for me. DH eats whenever he feels like it and never has set meal times.

Whoever is home sits at the table and eats together, between 5.30-7.

We did it as we were growing up. I moved out at 25 and it was generally expected that if I was home, I would sit with the rest of the family at that sort of time and eat family meal and it's something I've carried on with my kids.

Yes, we’ve always eaten together even when they were babies generally. Maybe not every night when babies because sometimes we made a special grown up dinner later. We ate probably 6:30/7 when they were small and now it’s more like 7:30/8. Ours are 11 and 6 now.

I feel so bad because when they go to friends houses they get fed because they seem to eat at like 5:30. But I never feed anyone’s children more than snacks, because usually by 5:30/6, I haven’t even thought about dinner yet. 😂
