I just baked a peach in my air fryer

I was reading a novel which mentioned a baked peach and thought that sounded interesting. I just cut a peach in half, put it in the air fryer, put a bit of muscavado sugar into the dip where the stone used to be and cooked it until the sugar had melted and the peach was looking a bit browned on the top. It was flipping delicious. I served it with whipped cream but I think that a good vanilla ice cream might be even better.

I'm not sure exactly, I used the bake setting at 170 C and just kept looking at it every three minutes or so. Possibly 10 - 12 minutes in total, but I took it out when the sugar was all melted and the surface was browned.

Or marscapone ?

sounds fab

PeachRose1986 · 23/08/2024 19:23

Whoa! Was it kind of poached?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/08/2024 19:39

Not really poached, just softened. The top was softer than the bottom because I used the bake setting, but it all had less crunch than a fresh peach. I think if I try it again (probably tomorrow Wink ) I might start it off upside down and then turn it cut-side up and add the brown sugar to finish off so that it's more evenly cooked throughout.

@Dearg If you like marscapone (which I don't particularly) then it would be fab.

I might try this with plums, thanks for this

magicstar1 · 23/08/2024 19:51

I do that and they’re delicious. If you like cinnamon mix some in with the sugar.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/08/2024 19:59

I used to do that under the grill, but baked all over sounds much nicer.

Thanks, I will experiment tomorrow. With cinnamon sounds like an excellent idea!

This used to be one of my favourite desserts as a kids, my dad did it under the grill. The sugar goes like the top of a creme brulee.

Try it with crush ameretti biscuits sprinkled over afterwards and any type of cream/icecream

DinnaeFashYersel · 23/08/2024 20:09

Oooo sounds great

GigiAnnna · 23/08/2024 20:13

I've tried this with a persimmon ( saw a recipe on tiktok), sprinked with brown sugar and ice cream. It was absolutely delicious. I do it with yogurt when I'm being healthy and it still tastes like a decadent pudding.

WoolerOwl · 23/08/2024 20:14

Also nice with a drop of brandy or sherry in the stone dip (give it a minute in the air fryer just like that to let it soak in) then either mascarpone or cream cheese to fill in the dip, and then brown sugar sprinkled on top of that. It sort of caramelizes. Delicious!

OVienna · 23/08/2024 20:31

What a good idea

Somuchyoungerthanbefore · 23/08/2024 20:32

Yum!

OldTinHat · 23/08/2024 20:47

Oooooooooooh! Sounds very yummy! *adds peaches to food order...

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/08/2024 21:41

I can't stand cinnamon, but I might put a drop of vanilla essence into the sugar next time.
