we’ve all accidentally eaten some coleslaw (was unopened) that’s use by date was two days ago. Going on holiday tomorrow… are we in for a terrible night??? It tasted okay…

Er, no, it’ll be fine.

Peonies12 · 22/08/2024 19:14

Surely you’re joking. I wouldn’t even think to check the date on anything apart from raw meat or fish. The dates are so cautious.

Giraffesareawesome · 22/08/2024 19:14

It’s just cabbage, carrot & mayo etc. It will be fine. The worst thing that would happen would be that it tasted a bit fizzy.

onemorerose · 22/08/2024 19:15

If it looked and tasted good enough to eat you’ll be fine.

CeffylCoch · 22/08/2024 19:15

Two days is nothing. You will be fine

I throw caution to the wind about use by/best before dates but the only times Ive had food poisoning in the UK twice was with M+S coleslaw. It was in date!

CCC12 · 22/08/2024 19:18

Thanks all. Sometimes a panicker! Only about travelling tomorrow really.

If it's not fizzy it's fine!
