Yes, i know I know, should've known better, but...

have been getting my knickers in a twist on the days I work getting tea ready for screaming kids, so decided to try some Delia short-cuts. Made salmon with frozen mash last night and dd1 (who is a fab eater) said 'I really can't eat this potato mummy, it doesn't even taste real' so I tasted some and it's ROUGH. YAK YAK YAK

That's learn me

anyway, don't do it again!

LynetteScavo · 15/04/2008 18:22

LOL at "dog cough" that's a new one to me!

LynetteScavo · 15/04/2008 18:24

Was it Smash mash, or just mash you had frozen...surely that would taste OK?

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/04/2008 18:24

I shall be using the phrase 'dog cough' from now on Moomin ! I was going to try the frozen mash too...

Moomin · 15/04/2008 18:26

It was the Aunt bessie's rubbish that she's been flogging suggesting we use when cutting corners and doing cheating. It says it's just potato with butter and a bit of salt but it tastes just like smash. Surprised the kids aren't completely dehydrated after all that salt

Thankyou Moomin The phrase "Proper dog cough" is the onely thing that has made DH smile in a laong time.

hippipotami · 16/04/2008 22:43

at dog cough...

But I have never ever managed to freeze mashed potato succesfully, so would imagine a pre-prepared frozen one to be dog cough too!

moondog · 16/04/2008 22:45

I'm purloining 'dog cough' too.

Moomin · 18/04/2008 16:08

Hmmmm it says it's only 0.3g salt per 100g, which doesn't sound too bad.

Still tastes bleuch though

SPRAY@Dog Cough!!!

FYIAD · 18/04/2008 16:15

it is unbelievably salty IIRC

Moomin · 18/04/2008 16:17

Maybe the butter has loads of salt as well then? Are they allowed to do that?

I would not trust Delia to feed my cat, every recipie of hers (Delias cookery vcourse) my mum ever tried was cat AND dog cough with dog biscuits on the side! She threw the books away in the end.
My mum went on to be a cordon bleu.
Delia is Cordon Bleugh!

merryberry · 18/04/2008 16:38

rofl at dog cough...!
giong to mail all my mates with this now.
and facebook it.

Overrun · 18/04/2008 16:44

You've been a very naughty girl, but I think you have learned your lesson now

My confession is as follows: I ordered some sicilian type sausages from Sainsburys online the other day. Imagine my horror when they arrived, with a big "Delia recommended" sticker on them.

They tasted fine, but mortified as have been slagging the woman off on here since that blardy book came out Don't want to be part of the Delia effect at ll....

Moomin · 18/04/2008 17:04

I know, re. the stickers - it's a terrible conspiracy to enlist us all in her quest to overrun the world with tinned dog cough mince, frozen dog cough potato and packets of dog cough sausages. The sight of one of those stickers would make me want to out the item back.

I even saw one on a packet of rocket and watercress in tescos yesterday... how in the name of jehosephar is that cheating??!! IIRC, she just added these leaves to a bowl of soup. If she had drawn the leaves on pieces of green paper and cut them out before adding them to food... then that would be CHEATING, surely.

The world's gone mad
