Bolognese with tomato soup?

Hello!

I have everything ready in front of me to make bolognese. Except for the chopped tomatoes. I was so sure I had a tin in the cupboard! 🙈

I do have some Heinz tomato soup. Has anyone used this in a bolognese sauce and was it ok?

I've done it, it works OK but isn't fantastic

I tried it once but it made the sauce very watery. Have you got any passata or fresh tomatoes instead??

Thanks for replies! I have a few fresh tomatoes but probably not enough. No passata either. Usually do but must have used it all! No emergency cook in sauces either. 😩

I think it could work but don't use the whole can? Splash a bit in, see how it looks. Can you add extra herbs / veg in?

Any puree? Use the fresh you've got and a bit of puree plus if you've got any other veg

You can make a tasty pasta sauce without any tomato. Just the supplies in front of you with a good olive oil and then add some parmesan to the pasta at the end and it will be delicious.

Found some tomato purée so have done the suggestion of purée and fresh tomatoes. Just did a taste test and all good! 😅

Yes do that. I tried it with tomato soup years ago, I read it in a magazine anyway it was rank.
