Following too 😋

I'm thinking maybe frying bacon lardons and onions, maybe a few sundries tomatoes, and then a good spoonful of cream cheese, with a glug of milk to loosen it. Piled up with Parmesan.

StormingNorman · 05/08/2024 15:36

Cream, bacon and pasta basically.

while the pasta’s cooking, fry off some lardons or cut up bacon (maybe mushrooms too if you like them). When the bacon is cooked, turn down the heat under the pan and add equal quantities of chicken stock and single cream. Swirl it all together, maybe with a little mustard, and let it simmer for a few minutes.

Take the pasta off and drain. Pour the pasta into the sauce. season with salt and petter to taste.

If the sauce is too thin, simmer a bit longer before putting the pasta in or top up with more cream.

Bacon, leeks, mushrooms, black pepper. Fry while pasta is cooking. Then wollop the whole lot together with a couple of tablespoons of 0% fat creme fraiche and grate some cheese on top.

Turnitoffnonagain · 05/08/2024 15:38

Right. Well, I know what we're having for tea tonight!!

BorisJohnsonsWigGlue · 05/08/2024 15:38

Yes I do! I add chicken though plus bacon. (Bacon is life)

Brown off some garlic and whole white onion in some fry light or olive oil
Fry your bacon then cut into little pieces
Add diced chicken breast with paprika, mixed Italian herbs, salt and pepper and pan fry until cooked through.
Add tub of cream cheese and a bit of pasta water to loosen everything up.
Add (lots of) spinach and some fresh basil if you have any. The spinach goes down to nothing so be generous with it.
If you want it REALLY cheesy, add some grated mozzarella or your fave cheddar. Mix and let it sit for a few minutes.

Add pasta (I do linguine with it normally) mix all together. Serve with garlic bread.

This is a very plain, unimpressive recipe, it's my Monday dinner with going DC and clubs so need something quick on a Monday. I sometimes add cooked broccoli to it too, very yummy!

If you don't want to use cream cheese, you can use ordinary cream but do add your own cheese to it otherwise it's a bit boring.

My fav is with milk - sounds weird but tastes amazing. Fry red onion mushroom, bacon, add white wine, reduce, add a spoon of corn flour, add milk, stir until thickens, add parsley black pepper and optional Parmesan

JamieFraserskneewarmer · 05/08/2024 15:42

My sons' favourite and so easy it is untrue!

Bacon (loads)
Large carton single cream
Fresh herbs (whatever you have but I usually use basil, oregano, parsley and rosemary)
Grated Cheese (grated parmesan is my go to for making this really quick but anything I have the fridge that needs using and isn't blue cheese is game)

Cut the bacon into thin strips (less than 0.5cm and fry until crispy)
While the bacon is frying, in a separate saucepan heat up the cream, when nearly boiling, add the cheese and stir throw until melted then add the fresh herbs, leave on a low heat
If using fresh pasta, get it onto to cook now - if you are using dried pasta, put it on once you have the bacon underway and before you make the cheese sauce

Drain the pasta and serve onto warm plates, topped with a cook helping of crispy bacon topped off with the cheese sauce. Literally 20 mins from opening the fridge to eating

I fry bacon lardons and mushrooms in a generous amount of butter add garlic paste, double cream and raw whisked eggs with fresh thyme and then stir in cooked pasta and a glug of pasta water. Finish with Parmesan and crispy bacon bits on top. Delicious! Sometimes I add white wine but tbh there often isn't any left over 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

You can turn @StormingNorman's recipe into a carbonara by adding an egg. (Italians will tell you that carbonara shouldn't have cream, but meh.)

British recipes for carbonara tend to involve making a cream-and-egg sauce, which I find hard to avoid scrambling.

What I do is to separate an egg per person (keeping the whites hopefully for meringues, if not for an egg-drop soup or a cocktail), then serve the yolk in its half-shell on top of the pile of pasta in the bowl. The diner then stirs the yolk into their hot pasta, which is enough to cook it if you are Edwina Currie (and in any case, people make mousse with raw eggs) but does not cause it to go solid.

GogAndMagog · 05/08/2024 15:46

I would make a cream rich béchamel sauce and add crispy fried bacon at the end, and Parmesan.

About a million cals but worth it

Fry the bacon in strips until crispy.
meanwhile put the pasta on to boil . 5 mins before it is ready add broccoli florettes to the water . Drain when cooked and add the bacon . Crumble in Stilton cheese . It melts to make a lovely creamy sauce .

Bacon & Pea Pasta - firm favourite in our house!
Serves 4 and takes about 20 mins

1 pack of streaky bacon chopped
1 pack Boursin cheese
1/2pt milk
350g frozen peas
1 red pepper chopped
350g of dried pasta of choice

Start to bacon whilst pot comes up for boil for the pasta, once water is ready, add pasta and boil for 6 mins, continue to fry bacon until cooked to taste (I like mine crispy!)

when pasta has cooked for 6 mins, add peas and peppers and cook for a further 6 mins.

once you have added the veg to the pasta, whilst cooking, add milk and Boursin cheese to a saucepan and on a med low heat, melt the Boursin into the milk, stirring constantly (should take 4-5 mins).

by now all should be cooked, drain pasta/veg, add sauce and spoon in bacon, carefully not to add the fat.

Add lots of cracked pepper and a sprinkle of cheese.

I love this creamy red pesto, bacon, & broccoli pasta from gousto. Simple as well with hardly any chopping.

Incakewetrust · 05/08/2024 16:58

I make a mushroom and bacon pasta.

While the pasta is cooking, I fry bacon lardons.
When they're cooked, I add sliced mushrooms and cook them until soft. Then I add in garlic.
Put a chicken stock cube in a small amount of water and throw that in as well.
Next make a roux (or use a jar of white sauce) and let it all simmer. Throw in some black pepper, garlic salt, paprika and a bit of cayenne if you like heat.
Add the cooked pasta and stir it all up and top with a bit of cheese if you feel fancy.

It's honestly one of my favourite meals

You lot are amazing - thank you for sharing all your recipes.

Which one do I try first 🤩🤤

I like one I got from Hello Fresh and now it has become a regular.

Fry bacon lardons until brown, add crushed garlic and some Dijon mustard, stir, add a bit of water and chicken stock cube, add half a tub of creme fresh and cheese (I use cheddar and/or parmesan). Add black pepper and more water, preferably from the cooking pasta if needed.

No eggs so no risk of scrambling and creme fresh is fairly heat stable.

TheLadyIsAVamp · 05/08/2024 21:59

I've been making this one from Ready steady cook for about 15 years! Always a favourite and we add whatever veg we have to use up works just aswell without chicken.
