Does anyone remember a pasty called Pasty Italiano? I think it may have been made by Ginsters and i used to buy it in late 80s/early 90s. Basically a rectangular pasty filled with pasta and sauce. Delicious!

Not an answer to your question, but there used to be a fancy pizza by the slice place near my friend’s uni (this would have been late 90s/early 00s), that did a pasta pizza. It was like a pizza with a pasta bake as a topping. 😳 I was never drunk or stoned enough when we went there to want that much in double carbs but it reminded me of this!

Thank you! Thought I was misremembering! Can you remember if it was Ginsters? I can’t find it anywhere on internet!😊

Hi, yes it was Ginsters! If I remember correctly it was a thick tomato base flavoured with oregano or maybe basil and possibly some small cooked pieces of red pepper (but I forget exactly) and soft pasta sheets,( like a sort of vegetarian lasagne) in puff pastry. I think the shape was similar to a Greggs now not a current Ginsters "bake".but I may be wrong, as it was ages ago, but they were yummy!

Sounds great if you're in that frame of mind. In Scotland there are macaroni pies, which are great. I keep meaning to get one while I'm up visiting my Mum.

My OH spoke with someone who had worked for Ginsters for 30+ years and had no recollection of them. I think we should campaign for their return! They were my staple when i was a student!

Sounds really good but I have to say Pasty Italianos were in a league of their own! 😉

100 percent agree. My girlfriend at the time was a veggie and only the Cheese and Onion and Italiano were suitable options, so I had quite a few!! They were delicious.
