Birthday cake request from DC1 so I am looking for a chocolate cake that is moist and fudgy. it will be iced with white chocolate fondant so it needs to be robust enough to take the weight of that as well. TIA.

The bbc good food chocolate fudge cake is good but I should think the fondant needs to be thin so as not to crush it.

I always use the BBC Good Food one. Did one at the request of one child this month, another in the family wants for their up and coming birthday too.

My go to is the Mary Berry Death by Chocolate. Make a day ahead and ice. It gets more moist and gooey as the frosting you use to sandwich it together soaks in to the cake overnight.

I am not a natural baker. But I have made this so many times that my children call it Mammy cake, everyone who has tried it thinks it’s lovely and it’s come out perfect every time I have followed this recipe.
