Cooking with MSG

I've been given a bag of MSG powder by a friend, a sort of long running joke, but he uses it regularly (he's vegan but loves umami). Do you use it? Have you cooked with it? What do you add it to?! I didn't use it tonight as I was already using chorizo and Parmesan, so didn't really need the extra.

Anything with eggs
Chinese-style rice dishes
Tomato sauces
Vegetable-based soups
Gravy that isn't quite hitting the spot on tasting
