We have about 10 people turning up to watch the football. We have said we will do a barbecue beforehand.

Give me your best spanish barbecue recipes / salads.

I was thinking patatas bravas and some kind of spanish chicken,

Chicken and chorizo kebabs (but do skin the chorizo beforehand otherwise it doesn't cook properly)

I’ve made a paella on our bbq before but you do need one that you can control the heat on well.

Fay Ripley's Piri piri chicken 😍

Ok so I think it's technically Portuguese but I've had v similar in Spain. I part cook it in the oven and finish it off on the bbq. Great with a cold beer!

If you are fairly confident cooking on (controlling heat) on bbq then this fillet of beef is amazing and screams British.

I think I'd do some prawns on skewers with garlic and chilli (I'd make a bit of a marinade of sorts with garlic and chilli and a bit of lemon zest and parsley and brush that over before/during cooking and then loads after).

chorizo sausages on the BBQ?

This isn't exactly spanish but my tomato salad always goes down well and I make it with spanish sherry vinegar so does that count? - big pile of tomotoes - mixed colours if you can get them - cut into bite sized pieces. About half of a medium sized red onion, chopped as fine as you can get it. A good sized bunch of flat leaf parsley, finely chopped. Mix together with spanish sherry vinegar, oil and and a bit of salt. Ideally make it at least half an hour before and give a good toss before you eat again.

Padron Peppers on the BBQ are amazing, just grill and add salt. Nice snack.

Agree with others, chorizo sausage is great on the BBQ too. Also, sardines if you want a fish option.

Sherry glaze for chicken wings also adds a bit of a Spanish twist.

I LOVE padron peppers. never thought of doing them on the BBQ. <adds to shopping list>

For that many people, I'd be tempted to do a mix of barbecue and non-barbecue items . You could make some tortilla, add bacon and then you have a 'bacon and egg tortilla' that represents both countries

A couple of cold platters:
One like a ploughmans with pork pies cut into quarters, thick cut ham, English cheeses, pickle and crusty bread, another with Spanish cheese (eg Manchego), and continental meat selection, olives, sundried tomatoes.

Sausages and Spanish style chicken on the BBQ.

Patatas Bravas sounds great, then a couple of salads to pull it all together.

These are great, thank you.

Also going to make Eton mess and Victoria Sponge, just to even things out.
