Cake Advice

Hello!

I have a chocolate tray bake cake recipe that I use regularly and wanted to make a smaller version for my daughters birthday to take to her childminders.

Can anyone advise if it's more likely to be successful to halve the recipe or stick with the original recipe and simply use the amount of batter needed to fill the smaller ring

I’d use the original recipe and use what fills the ring….its not usually as straightforward as halving quantities fir a half sized tin…eg a 4” square cake will only actually need a quarter of the quantity for a 8” square cake, not half

Personally I would make the full recipe and freeze half the cake for another time. Adapting baking recipes usually goes wrong in my experience.
