Cake for 6 year olds competition

My dd, age 6, has a competition where she has to make a cake. The cake has to be made by her with adult supervision, I am not a great baker but she really wants to enter! Any recommendations for an easy but impressive looking cake? That looks good but a 6 year old can make?!

I've yet to meet someone who has messed it up, and it always looks really impressive, especially considering how little effort it takes

Basic sponge but do several bowls and use gel food colouring then add to the cake tin in layers/splodges to creat a fun looking rainbow cake.
Decorate with some buttercream, chocolate, sprinkles, figures or whatever 6yo wants.

Works better if it's being cut open during competition but my 6yo loved making one! I just helped measure out and she chucked everything in the stand mixer

I second a Smarties cake. Lots of pics on Pinterest with Smartie flowers that look good and would be easy for her do the design herself.

I'd just make a simple sponge cake. Add some buttercream on the top and then let her decorate it with sprinkles and sweets.
