I have a full fridge brimming with vegetables so please hit me with ideas other than a turkey bolognaise which is my fallback plan! I think it’s turkey thigh mince.

Chilli. It works well as turkey mince can be a bit dry.

Definitely burgers. Thigh mince works well with it. Reminds me to do these again!

Definitely turkey mince chilli for old el paso "boats". Family can stuff with salad, avocado, salsa, sour cream and cheese.

JamMakingWannaBe · 19/06/2024 22:58

Also mince pie / shepherd's pie. DD doesn't eat red meat so we cook with chicken/turkey mince quite a lot.

I'd do tacos with it

ChrisPPancake · 19/06/2024 23:05

I use it in basically any mince based dish. Bobotie, chilli, Bolognese, moussaka, keema, shepherd's pie etc..

Turkey mince doesn't make meatloaf as structurally sound as pork ime so I either do half and half or add a load of cheese.

I love Greek turkey burgers with tzatsiki or Nigellas Korean keema.

Kryten1958 · 20/06/2024 09:07

Keema Curry, I usually use minced lamb but turkey works well also.

1kg turkey mince
1 large onion
6 cloves of garlic
1 green chilly (not a pizza type chilly)
1/2 jar of Patak’s Korma paste (not the sauce in a jar)
Oil

Heat the oil in the pan
Add the diced onions, soften them don’t let them burn (you don’t want it to taste like a hotdog).
Add the sliced garlic and chilly to flavour the oil.
Add the turkey mince and stir until cooked.
Add the Korma curry paste.
Simmer for 30 to 45 minutes.
Add salt to taste while still in the pan.

My Indian friends tell me this is almost as good as theirs.

I'm away from home at the moment so can't look up the recipe, but I do a 'yellow split pea dhal with turkey mince and leek' that is really nice. Haven't made it for a while - must get some turkey mince when I get home!
