I seem to have invited 18 people for a BBQ - help please!

Thing is, we don't actually have a BBQ.

What can I do for 18 people (8 adults, 9 kids age 10-15) that's easy, looks fancy and bonus points if it can be made ahead? I was thinking of pulled pork but don't have a go to recipe. Sausages for the kids? A big quiche?

Also looking for nice salads that could go with it that are easy to make.

I have two ovens, a slow cooker and an air fryer available.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Pulled pork and quiche s a good idea.

Big plate of sausages
Potato salad
Homemade coleslaw
A load of baguettes for the pork and sausages
Chopped cucumbers and peppers on the side for the kids
Crisps in bowls

Just keep the Bar and forget about the Becue. 😄

Someone will be along soon to offer suggestions though. Not me sadly I'm too lazy. Good luck!

Any vegetarians?

Pulled pork baps or hog roast style with apple sauce?

Big bowls of salad maybe with some chopped mango or apricot in (trust me, it's lovely!)?
Pizzas for younger ones or they may like above?
Potato wedges?
Pasta or rice salad?
Hot dogs?
Home made coleslaw?
Corn on the cob?
Potato salad?
Cheeseboard?

Pulled Pork is a good shout. (Sorry I cant help with recipe).
If you get good quality sausages adults will eat them too. I always enjoy chicken skewers, tandoori, garlic and herb, chicken and chorizo and you can just cook on trays in the oven.
Could you do a side of salmon? Easy to do and feels quite summery.
These are salads I often make for bbq type things, all fairly simple and nice and colourful so look good.
Radish & cucumber salad with mint, lime & toasted cumin seeds
Sweet potato, chickpea and feta salad with tahini dressing
Vietnamese rice noodle salad

We did exactly this for 35 the other day!

  • Pulled Pork (the bbc good food one), done in the slow cooker
  • Mini sausages done in honey and mustard in the air fryer *Burgers done in the oven
  • veggie and halloumi skewers done in the oven

Padded out with brioche buns, coleslaws, salads, Greek flatbreads and pasta salads. Was great and v little cooking while people were here!

@feathermucker Only one veggie - my daughter. Everyone will chuckle as all the families are beef/sheep farmers!

I was looking at that BBC recipe but the comments were that it was bland. Do you have any recipes for the mango salad - they sound lovely

Nigella Lawsons slow roasted aromatic shoulder of pork. It is absolutely amazing (but does cook for 24 hours) your house will smell lovely too.

The bbc recipe definitely isn’t bland, but we do dump in a bottle of bbq sauce at the end too (Sweet Baby Rays)

Pulled pork or a mild chilli done in the slow cooker .Veggie/Vegan chilli if catering for vegetarian and vegan.

Jacket Potatoes

Boston Beans

Large Garden Salad

Baguette/ nice bread

Large bowl of tortilla chips and dips

Sorbet for pud

Ice cream for kids

This is my go to menu when the weather is inclement or if cannot be bothered to get bbq out.

Always goes down well

Honestly, I just get a bag of salad, chopped cucumber, pepper, radish, red onion, sweetcorn, celery and diced mango. Have also used sultanas in salad before, just gives a nice fruity twist and lovely in the summer
