Posh picnic for two ideas

What would you take for a posh main meal picnic for two (me and dd 20)? I don't like eggs in sandwiches/scotch eggs etc but not an issue in recipes. DD adores potato salad so that'll be in there! Thank you!

Spanish omelette

Strawberry's and cream

Mini cheeseboard

Pre made cocktail stick nibbles ie - motz basil tomato yum!

To be honest wander around m&s foodhall :)

Lots of olives, pickles, nice crisps and dips
(And litres of water for all the dehydration after!)

I would do roast chicken legs/breast with a mexican style fajita seasoning, potato salad with lots of coriander and lime, a sweetcorn salsa and a guacamole and salsa with some tortilla chips.

Crust bread or olive bread or both.
Smoked salmon, goats cheese, potato salad, pate.

A fresh fruit salad or slices of melon.

Something posh to drink, champagne or nice coffee.

If the weather is lovely

Salmon and asparagus
Raspberries and creme
Champagne in a cooler

In inclement weather

Bacon kept hot in a vacuum flask
Consommé dash of sherry separate flask
Crusty rolls, lashing of butter
Really dark chocolate and coffee
Flask of brandy

In either case, Proper wicker picnic basket, plates and cutlery and travel rug

Sticky sausages
Fruit - apples and grapes at least

Pasta salad, tuna perhaps
A tiger loaf or similar soft quality bread
Thick cut ham
Cherry tomatoes
Quiche or mini crustless quiches.
Chutney
Bre/cheddar/goats cheese
Strawberries
Brownies or similar chocolate dessert

Cerialkiller · 15/06/2024 08:07

Oh, and scones with clotted cream and jam.

Posh picnics before we have taken real glass champagne flutes and fizz, or wine and picnic wine glasses.

Options we've done for pudding are homemade victoria sponge (preferably whole and cut when you arrive), a chocolate fondue kept hot in a thermos flask with strawberries and bananas.

Mains either fancy sandwiches, or more likely cold cut meats and cheeses with fresh bread and butter.

Picnic food from Waitrose or M&S
Hard boiled quails' eggs with celery salt and paprika
strawberries
mini summer puddings with clotted cream
sparkling elderflower and some cans of pimms ready mixed with fruit

Willmafrockfit · 15/06/2024 10:22

posh veggie sausage rolls/quiche

AlwaysCloudyAtNoon · 15/06/2024 14:50

I love cold chicken legs that I usually slather with soy, honey and sesame seeds before cooking.

watermelon, feta and mint salad

Nice Victoria sponge

Fizz

Posh picnic...
make up lidded bowls of layered salad with potato salad, rocket, flaked poached salmon, diced cucumber, chopped radishes.
take Brie (or Camembert) and grape rolls.
make jars of Greek yoghurt with honey topped with fresh raspberries.

Extras could include....
pâté or rillettes with French bread.
olives, grilled artichokes.
biscuits to go with the raspberries.

Ready made Pimms, elderflower pressé, Prosecco or champagne. 🥂 🍾 🥂

Breadcat24 · 16/06/2024 22:08

Do one of those hollowed out bread things with cheese, cold meats and tomatoes and grilled veg. Can have the raw ones but I think they are better baked then cooled
or brie and charcuterie with a french stick
chocolate dipped strawberries
Scones with lemon curd and clotted cream
