To go with fatteh?

I'm going to make Nigella's beef and aubergine fatteh for friends tomorrow night because it looks DELICIOUS.

I think it's normally eaten as a starter so if anyone is into Lebanese food... what would you cook as a main, or what do you think would go with the fatteh if I was to serve three dishes at once, mezze-style?

This is the recipe I'm using:

Thank you!

Sounds delicious 😋. A few ideas-Tabbouleh, hummus and falafel, muhammara, shish tawook (basically chicken kebabs), vine leaves, mujadara. Definitely lots of pickles and olives. I love those fried cheese pastries but imagine they may be difficult to do unless you can find them premade.

Thank you! I think I'm going to go with a salad with feta and a pomegranate molasses and sumac dressing, and maybe some tabbouleh - looking forward to it!

If you want to do things the proper Middle Eastern way you can absolutely not serve your guests only 3 mezze dishes, and nothing else. It would be considered stingy, inhospitable and rude. The point of mezze is to serve many small and light dishes that everyone can eat a little bit of to increase the appetite for the main meal - and also eat alongside the main meal. The mezze is not the main meal itself. I would definitely make a main dish as well as (at least) the 3 mezze dishes you have chosen.
