Your favourite Sauvignon Blanc from Tesco

We buy most of our wine online so am out of touch with what is good from supermarkets. Going to friends for supper tomorrow, asked what colour wine they'd like us to take and was told white matches the first two courses - with the added info that one of the hosts only likes Sauvignon Blanc. We don't have any in our current box of wines. Due to a pretty full day tomorrow, the only supermarket I can get to is Tesco. I could just choose one randomly but if anyone has any recommendations I'd appreciate it. Thank you .

RomanRoysSearchHistory · 24/05/2024 20:32

Tesco has Babich Estate at the moment. It's an excellent nz Sauvignon

Mine too. Although if you think your friends would prefer a brand Brancott, Villa Maria and oyster bay are good. As is the ned.

Yes to the Babich estate sauvignon blanc, had a bottle the weekend before last and was very impressed

CelesteCunningham · 25/05/2024 08:24

The black label Brancott Estate has ruined other wines for me.

All the ones listed here are good though.

AuntieMarys · 25/05/2024 08:25

Wairau is good

Coaltodiamonds · 25/05/2024 08:30

Our Tesco sells Cloudy Bay which is a bit pricy, but really nice if you want to go for something a bit spesh. I also really rate Te Pa and Ara Select Blocks. And the Villa Maria Earth Garden organic one.

I like Oyster Bay.

Thought I'd report back - bought the black label Bancrott estate, on offer at the moment. Didn't get to taste it though as they had several bottles of the same wine which they served. Thanks for your help

Mud house is lovely, but far too easy to drink!

DancingFerret · 06/06/2024 14:26

Late to the party, but thought I'd echo the recommendation for Mud House (the NZ one; the Chilean offering is too harsh on the palate, IMO). I'm not really a fan of white wines, but this one is very drinkable - and it's currently on offer at Tesco for £8 if you have a Clubcard.
