Would bean to cup coffee instead of barista stop you going to a cafe?

I get that we all love great coffee but recently I've found myself queuing for most of my visit or finishing my food before my coffees arrived and a poor barista with orders coming out of their ears. I would just love to enjoy a lovely coffee before eating and sit with a friend instead of queuing separately for ages. What to people think of high quality freshly brewed bean to cup coffee? That then frees up the server to do other things in between like print a bill or log an order ... any thoughts ?

OP, maybe you should offer a filter coffee or something at a cheaper rate for those who don't care.

Maybe I am a coffee snob, but to me an instant coffee tastes very different to a filter to a bean/cup machine to a proper barista coffee. I do drink all of them (except maybe instant..), like I sometimes have eggs on toast rather than a proper cooked meal. But I wouldn't pay the price of a proper meal for eggs on toast

That's a good idea ... option for cheaper coffee options that are quicker alongside barista made. Obviously a choice of dairy free and of course fresh milk and fresh beans... I think what this thread has shown is that there is a definite variation of opinion ... and that's what I wanted to hear ... personally for me it's about so much more than the coffee .... every aspect is so important.. warmth and welcome (nothing worse than feeling awkward when you walk in somewhere)... beautiful decor... quality locally sourced produce cleanliness the right music at the right volume correct atmospheric lighting ... counter and table service available and correct staffing so that the wait times are never too long. Just have to put it into action! Oh and great home baked cakes and brilliant coffee!

I dont get your reasoning op. What takes the time in making a coffee is the milk froth. And pouring the right milk consistency. A bean to cup just makes the expresso.

Or do you mean a express machine like on service stations?

I've only once had coffee served before the meal -and that was taka away and I did complain. Its not a issue I experience in general they serve the food with the drinks.

If it was a express machine like in service stations I would not eat there. I'd wonder what else they cut corners on.

I personally do like proper filter coffee (NOT Americano) Starbucks seems to be the only ones whom serves this with any regularity. Its not common in the UK.

Do make clear whether it is counter or table service (obviously counter for takeaways). It’s annoying when you aren’t sure which it is and it’s so easy to have it clearly written on a sign or on the menu.

Yes the take out is a separate room to the cafe

So many places have those coffee machines.

If I'm paying over the odds for a coffee in a cafe I choose somewhere they make a fantastic coffee & have good service/enough staff.

Yes a couple of things about cafes are annoying and offputting

Theres a coffee place in the next town to us, the bread and cakes look gorgeous and obviously they think their selling point is their coffee. I havent even stepped in there, because the lighting is very very bright white lighting, really harsh almost like an operating theatre vibe, the tables are long bench type tables with bench seating, dont want to sit with strangers thank you

Also places where its not clear if you order at the bar or not

Also where the chairs make a horrible noise scraping along the floor and tables that are too small, or where you cant get in and out of the chair because its got arms and there isnt space to pull the chair right out from under the table because its butted up against another table.

Need signage to say clearly where the toilets are.

Also places where the space where you pay is all cramped and you're constantly moving out the way for people to get past or queuing for tables or for staff moving in and out of the kitchen

Also where you pay there needs to be something to put your handbag on, I cant get things out if I cant put my bag down on something.

If it's a coffee shop then it must have barista coffee.
I think there is more leeway where the focus is on the food and the beverage is secondary. In that case a bean to cup machine would be fine I think.

If the coffee is shit I don't go. If the coffee is good, I'll gladly wait for it.
