I'm pregnant and I strangely feel like eating flowers. I've never told anyone this, but I'm very curious. Are there any types of flowers I can eat? For example, are orchids edible? I started to see it in my dreams

Not orchids, but there are other edible flowers. Generally best to buy packaged like the one linked above, buy ones grown as herbs (such as lavender, chives) or grow your own as flowers are often grown with pesticides and other chemicals which might not be safe to eat. Easy ones to grow would include things like flowering herbs, rose petals, nasturtiums, calendula and cornflowers.

If you look up edimentals there are loads of ornamental plants that are also edible in some way. 🙂

I found out recently you can eat magnolia flowers!

Either buy edible flowers such as those pictured from M& S or grow your own with no chemicals (probably take too long!) Don't eat bought flowers that are sold for decoration even if on the 'edible' list in theory as they will have been treated with pesticides. Roses in theory are edible but I wouldn't be munching on a bunch from the florist!

Rocket flowers.

Marrow and courgette flowers.
Rose is in Turkish delight and cordial.
And those yellow ones that get stuffed. Can't remember the name right now.

Whatever you do, do NOT eat daffodils. Highly poisonous.

Ask me how I know…

Stick to Nasturtiums.

I thought that was courgette?

Nasturtium flowers are deliciously peppery in salads and the green seed pods they make are even better.

NOT orchids. Borage is lovely, comfrey too.

Although vanilla pods are from a variety of tropical orchid!

Avoid dandelions as being pregnant you are probably peeing enough without their help.

Thanks to everyone. I finally told my wife about the situation and she brought me edible flowers in a package. It said eternity flowers on it. :) My baby and I are happy
