Supermarkets - shop in store, deliver to home

Hi all,

My mother in law mentioned that her neighbour said it is possible to shop in store at Waitrose and have them deliver the shop to your home. This would be ideal for her, as she takes buses rather than driving, and hates online shopping.

But I can’t find any reference to this online? Does it exist? And do other supermarkets offer this service too?

thanks :-)

I've not heard of this - but you could check directly with their customer services (they respond reasonably quickly to email and their customer services number).

Iceland do this, so did somerfield back in the day I used it loads!
Alternatively she could bus to the shop, pick her items and then taxi home? A nice driver will help unloading too.

I'm not sure nowadays since we now have access to online shopping, but a few used to do that. Iceland did as long as you spent £25, that would have been about 30 years ago though. There was also a supermarket in the basement of Littlewoods on Princes Street in Edinburgh that would deliver for free in a 5 mile radius. I used to pop in at lunch time from work and do my shopping and they'd deliver it when I got home. Always wanted to ask if I could jump in the van instead of getting the bus 😁.

If they don't do it, I think they should, it would be a popular service I'm sure.
